The Vatican Museums are very interesting to visit. The collections include paintings, jewelry, tapestries, sculptures, and much more. My tour ended with the Sistine Chapel.
Although the entire chapel is a work of art, the most famous part is the ceiling which tells eight stories: Separation of Light from Darkness, Creation of the sun, moon, and planets, Separation of Land from Sea, Creation of Adam, Creation of Eve, Orginal Sin and Banishment from the Garden of Eden, Sacrifice of Noah, The Flood, and Drunkenness of Noah. The entire ceiling is thought to have been completed by October 31, 1512, a celebrated Mass in the chapel, and was painted by Michelangelo.
The other famous part of the Sistine Chapel is the painting of The Last Judgelment by Michelangelo on the back wall. This is another amazing painting that is enhanced with some research into the story it tells. It is also interesting to look for St. Bartholomew in the painting. The face is supposed to be a self-portrait of Michelangelo!
