Europe 2002: Venice

Venice (Venezia in Italia), in the Veneto region of Italy, is the 'city of canals' for a very good reason! There are really hundreds of very small islands usually joined by bridges. There are a few islands, such as Murano, that are far enough from the main part of Venice that are only accessible by a boat (or vaporetto). And the Grande Canal cuts through the main part of Venice.

Unfortunately for me, by the time my journey reached Venice I was becoming exhausted. I found St. Mark's Piazza to be interesting but the rest of Venice will have to wait for a future adventure.
