Florence Hotel Review
Hotel Plebiscito Due
My rating for this hotel out of 5 possible stars. This hotel is located in the nicer areas of Naples, next to Piazza del Plebiscito and minutes from the port at Molo Beverello. The room was simple, but large, clean and quiet. We would recommend this hotel. (€90)

Taking a train from Venice, through Bologna, we arrived in Naples. Although we stayed in Naples for four days we never really explored Naples. So many travel books and travel shows advise against visiting Naples but aside from our initial impression of Naples outside the train station we found it to be a very nice city. Of course, we were warned to be very alert, especially at night, by both the hotel owner/manager and Avis rental car representative.

Naples, from the Greek for New City, is the largest city in southern Italy with a population just over 1 million people.

Although we stayed in Naples, we rented a car to visit nearby Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii, Sorrento, and the Amalfi Coast. I am not sure that given the chance that I would visit Naples again. While I might like to learn more about its history and explore the many areas that we did not see, there are so many other nearby towns that I know I would like to visit again.

This video clip shows a bit of the chaos associated with driving in Naples.
