Carollie |
|
I had this in Denver over 10 years ago and can still remember how great the ingredients I picked tasted together. You can certainly choose your own ingredients, but make sure you include the cream cheese, provolone cheese, and pepperoncini peppers! From there, the choice is yours! |

| Ingredients: |
1 package pizza crust mix
a great pizza sauce, 1 small can or ½ jar
¼ cup softened cream cheese
½ cup provolone cheese
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup cooked Italian sausage
¼ cup pepperoncini rings
1 ¼ cup finely chopped onion
some sliced pepperoni
some grated Parmesan cheese |

Prepare pizza crust according to package instructions. Spread mix into a round pizza pan.
A great pizza sauce depends on the spices. You can buy a cheap sauce and "flavor it up" yourself. Add some minced garlic, onion, and green pepper. Also add some black pepper and Italian seasonings. A teaspoon of each spice and a tablespoon of each vegetable should suffice. Gently heat the pizza sauce for about 5 minutes if you added your own flavoring to combine the flavors. Spread some sauce on ½ the pizza crust leaving about a ¾ inch space at the edge.
Layering of the carollie ingredients is very important for whatever ingredients you choose to use. You want a nice mix of sauce, cheese, and other ingredient so that no part of the stuffed pizza is too dry.
I add the cooked sausage right on top of the crust and sauce. Next, I pull the cream cheese apart into little chunks and "dot" the half of the pizza crust I am working with. Place the pepperoni slices next. Add some sauce. Add the chopped onions. Add the provolone cheese and pepper rings.
At this point I have a nice sized pile of stuffing ingredients. Carefully, pull the untopped portion of the pizza crust over the toppings. You must bring the edge all the way to match with the edge we already left untouched around the sauce. You need to seal the stuffed pizza by making the two edges into one edge. I also use a fork to ensure the edge is sealed. Sprinkle the top with some grated Parmesan cheese and bake at 375º for about 15 minutes, or the crust is nicely toasted. Enjoy! |
