Montana 2004: Paradise Valley
Paradise Valley extends from the Yellowstone gateway community of Gardiner at the south end to historic Livingston on the north end. Appropriately named, this region is a paradise to Montana and to the Rocky Mountains. Bounded by the majestic Absaroka-Beartooth mountains on the east, the Gallatin Range on the west, the valley follows the meandering waters of the Yellowstone River (longest river in the continuous 48 states without a dam). This premier Montana vacation spot has perfect summers and mild winters in the "big sky" country. The close proximity to Yellowstone Park, the Beartooth Highway and many other natural wonders make it the perfect place to vacation.

Just before our trip began Joe learned that a long lost friend was living in Montana. Mike, his friend, told us how beautiful the area is and we decided to stop to visit.

Having now lived in the area for some time, Mike knows all the secrets and had friend with a 'Bed & Breakfast' cabin available for us to spend the night. Davis Creek Bed & Breakfast has quaint cabins in a beautifully quiet area. There was a babbling brook just a few feet from our door with a fanastic view of mountains. And Norma prepared a delicious breakfast, complete with fresh fruit and warm muffins, that was served to us in the morning.
Joe seeing Mike after several years.  Mike's mountain home.  Bed and Breakfast Cabin.  Bed and Breakfast Cabin.  Bed and Breakfast Cabin.  Bed and Breakfast Cabin.  Double-shot of a playful dog.

Mike also took us for a hike in the mountains with his dog, Tessa. One of Joe's goals for the vacation was to see at least one bear. Mike assured us that Tessa is constantly on the lookout for bears and has warned him previously when a bear was in the area. The rest of us were hoping today would not be the day Joe saw his bear!

The hike was enjoyable with the scenary being fantastic! Amanda has some hesitation about the bumpiness of the path, but was quite a trooper as Tammy pushed her along in the go-anywhere stroller. The air was so crisp, fresh and exhilarating!

A short hiking trip into the mountains where bears have been previously spotted!  On the go with the sporty stroller.  Fallen tree over the raging river.  The beauty of nature.  Gorgeous river running through the mountains.  Trying to not get too close to a bear in the forest.  Careful, Mom!
