San Francisco 2003: Whitewater Rafting
Traveling about an hour northeast of Sacramento, Joe and I enjoyed a day of whitewater rafting on the Middle Fork of the American River with All-Outdoors Rafting. It was rumored that Joe Montana and his wife were rafting with a different rafting company in a group behind us.
Our first whitewater rafting proved to be very exciting! The scariest part, however, happened off the river on the bus ride back to our car. The river cuts a very deep and steep valley through the mountains. There is a very narrow, very winding access road with no ledge on the river-side that climbs the mountain. Our bus driver showed no fear as he raced up the mountain!

Other than that, Joe fell out of the raft as we encountered a rapid along the river. I meant to grab him to hold on but instead I knocked him out of the raft. He never saw it coming!
